About Us

Outreach Therapy is a nonprofit organization based in Pittsburgh, PA providing occupational therapy (OT) services to people who are experiencing and exiting homelessness. We meet people where they are in the community, and continue support through long-term transition to new living environments such as housing.

Founded in 2023, Outreach Therapy was borne out of needs assessment in street medicine and shelter settings from 2021-2023. Outreach Therapy has rapidly bridged a gap in homelessness healthcare and human services across Allegheny County with a unique focus on a clinical approach to skills for the transition to housing and community re-integration.

Across all of our services, our team strongly values strengths-based, trauma-informed, harm reductionist, and neurodiversity-affirming care.

Our Team

Julia Lam, OTD, OTR/L

Founder, Executive Director, OT

Julia founded Outreach Therapy based on experiences volunteering in street medicine, where she noticed a gap in community re-integration and rehabilitation services to increase successful transition out of homelessness. She loves her patients and the opportunity to translate research on OT and homelessness directly to real life program development. She is driven to provide trauma-informed, evidence-based, equitable occupational therapy that meets the needs of people with complex physical, cognitive, mental health, substance use, and socioeconomic needs.

Rachael Rosenstein, OTD, OTR/L

Occupational Therapist

Rachael joined as occupational therapist after completing her doctoral capstone with Outreach Therapy. During her capstone she developed disability education materials and community-engaged group occupational therapy programming at the Second Avenue Commons shelter and drop-in shelter. She provides individual and group occupational therapy services across shelters and housing. Rachael is passionate about trauma-informed and neurodiversity affirming care, occupational therapy for chronic pain, substance use disorders, and mental health. She is a strong advocate for her patients and skilled at interprofessional collaboration.

Jordann Antoan, OTD, OTR/L

Occupational Therapist

Jordann joined as an occupational therapist after completing her doctoral capstone with Outreach Therapy. She provides individual OT throughout shelters and housing, and continues to grow Outreach Therapy’s group programming developed in her capstone to provide low-barrier OT options for those utilizing shelter services. She is particularly dedicated to facilitating community integration for both housed and unhoused patients—often can be spotted on life skills training outings with patients around the city— while providing trauma informed OT for people with mental health, physical health, cognitive, and substance use diagnoses.
